fo r fi r s t, and th e n ex t m ajor ac tion occu rred with 75 minutes left to run, w he n the Penn State Cycle Honda 600 crashed into the pit wa ll exiting the final turn, lea v ing pilot Jo h n Col eman motionless on the racing surface. Th e race was quickly red-flagged, Coleman rushed to the hospital w ith wrist and leg inj u r ies. H is tea m wou ld make the restart to win d up 21st ove rall at the finish. The 20-min u te r ed-fl ag p e r iod allowed teams to regroup for on e las t blast to the checkered, and turned out to be a godsend for R.A. Worried abo u t stop ping problems, the crew discovered that the front bra ke pad s in their Perform a n ce Mach ine calip ers w e re w o rn right through the backing plates. . Th e hero of the final hour wa s Jeff Sneyd, a fr ont-runner in Canada th is yea r with an ex-Crevier Kawa sa ki SIB in h is debut P r o effort. Aboard th e repaired TKO Kawasaki, Sneyd jumped into a big lead at the restart, chased by Arclight's Suzuki, R.A., Red Hot, Ohio, H&H, Airport Racing, Royale, Competitive Edge and Can -Am. Although few of the front-runners were on the same lap, Jenkins an d Sneyd fough t for final-hour . honors, both teams out of contention due to earlier falls. With a half hour to go, ·Jenkins took over the point from Sneyd as Munroe worked up to third from hi s secondwave restart, McKinstray fighting with Klassen for fourth. Then Munroe picked up the pace and passed Jenkins for first on the road, with Sneyd tailing the overall leader. Coming up to the hour mark, Sneyd moved past Munroe and the flag fell just as Munroe crossed the line, giving Sneyd and extra lap as th e " final hour" winner. Kawasaki's winning total o f tours was 171, followed by R.A. at 169 and H&H with 167. Fourth-overall Arclight turned 166 laps , the same total as fifthfinisher (and Mediumweight Sup erBikeclass victor) Ohio Superbike. The Med iumweight SuperStock w in went to eighth-finisher III Racing with 164 laps, one ahead of Mint (10th overall) in the tightest class battle. On the rostrum, Munroe w a s all smiles as Taylor .exclaimed !hat " there's no bike better than a Kawasaki. This bik e hasn't been apart since July 1993, and to be honest, 1 didn't know if it wou ld last, bu t Kawasaki builds an incred ible bike." The success marked Taylor's second rostrum appearance in si x d ays, closely following his Road Atlanta AMA 600 Supersport success. "I have to give all the credit to Tim, he looks after the truck and the bike," remarked the always jovial McKinstray. "He was fixi ng both during the past co u ple of weeks, while I watch 'The Simpsons' and 'Seinfeld' at home. This is my first race here in two years and my first time on this pod ium, so its a dream come true." ~ Shannon vllle Motors port Park Ontario, Canada .
