Schwartz got the pol e with Faria in three and Ade n in four. Everyone got a good sta rt, with Venegas ge ttin g to th e co m er firs t. Schwartz went to th e ins ide and took the lead as they completed lap one. This time, as they hi t the first tum, Venegas held it on w h ile Schwartz got out in the di rt. Venegas came ou t of two in the lead, Faria was running third but sa w the wea k spot, an d when Schwartz again went high. Faria wen t by to take over seco nd . Schwartz was not abo ut to let it hap pen again and Aden settl ed for fourth. Angela Hale led the Hand icap main for one lap before "Flyin '" Faria look over the lead after - coming from the BO-yard line . Hale held on to second for two mo re laps before Walt Farnu m, w ho ha s just rece n tly come out of re tir em ent, got by to take ove r second. Venegas was tied up in traffic ea rly, but he made his move with Farnum to take the third spol Hale did hang on to the fourth. . The Sidecars we re a d ozen strong, ma king th is the b iggest turnout of the season. The sixteam main even t cam e down to a race between the Yamaha of Lewis and Macy an d the Kawa saki of Mcintyre and German. The race was over before it began, as this was one of the nights the Yamaha was running well, and Lewis and Macy went wire to wire. McIntyre and Geimn were a solid second with Anderson and Fisher third. I Mini riders wow spectators at Daniel Boone Motocross By Kathy Smith WNDON, KY, AUG.28 Over ISO riders turned out for Mr. X da y at the Daniel Boone Motocross Park where Justin Sipes pu t in a good ride in the mini ranks. In the fir st moto o f th e 50cc (4-6) cl ass, Shores jum ped ahead in the first lap to dominate the race and take th e checkered flag. Patrick Gabeha rt finished second. In the second moto there was a surprise upset, as Gabehart passed Sipes and was able to hold the lead, claiming the checkered flag to give him the overall victory, with Sipes finishing second. _ The SOcc riders in the (7-8) class were jus t as entertaining as the 4- to 6-year-old riders; they flew over the ju m ps and rounded the cu rv es wi th style. Alexa nder Hunter led the racing in bo th motos to notch the overall win, with Kara Ann Taylor finishing second overall and Jordan Blair finishing third. There was action in the larger-displacement classes. In the first moto of the 125cc D class, James Jenkins jumped ou t fron t ear ly in the race. Jenkins was jamming and was able to hold the lead and capture the w in in this moto. Ran dy Boyd battled with Dennis Halcomb for second place. Boyd was able to edge Halcomb out, finishing second, with Halcomb taking third place. M oto two p layed host to a fie rce battle betw een Jenkins an d Halcomb. Jenkins won the hol esho t and ju m ped ahead, with Halcom b chasing him hard. Jenkins led the race for the fiis t tw o laps before going down in the tabletop section. Halcomb look advantage of this opportunity to gra b the lead. Both riders were jamm in g, as Halcom b h eld the lead and Jen kins attempted to recover it. Jenkins was unable to ra lly, and Halcomb claimed the checkered flag onl y to finis h in second place ov erall. Jenkins finished second in the moto to earn the overall victory.
