race, and when Nenow d ropped back in the
pack , Woodward held a s izeable lead o ve r
Joseph Patzoldt, Nagel and Joshua Patzoldt,
who had charged up to fourth.
By the fifth lap of the race, Mortel was
motoring, and he had gained second place , picking off riders quickly. On the last lap , Mortel
dosed the gap on Woodward and went by for
the win followed by Woodward, and Joseph and
Joshua Patzold. Nagel rounded out the top five.
Moto two wa s definitel y les s d ramatic, as
Mortel made life easier for himself by grabbing
the holeshot unscathed and going away. taking
the moto win. Behind Mortel off the start were
Woodward, Nenow and Joseph Patzoldt. Wood ·
ward dropped back on lap two. The Pat zo ldt
brothers diced over second place for mos t of the
race with Joseph coming out on top. Nagel and
Nenow rounded out the top five, respectively.
Troy Johnso n proved it does n 't take a brand
new bike to win. as he wo n bo th of the 27-rider
motes for the overa ll win in the 25+ C class on
his 1984CR250.

Tebo tops at CRC Night MX

After dominating the Vet Beginner class for the
last few weeks. Bruce Tebo made the move up to
the Vet Novice class look easy by coming from
the back of the pack in bot h motos to score a
pair of wins d uring California Racing Club 's Fri·
day n igh t motocross at Los Angeles Co unty
Raceway .
Mike O' Donnell , who was also making his
first No vice ride. jumped ou t to an immedia te
lead in moto one. J.J. Harris held do wn second,
ah ead of Kurt Kliewer and Joh n Stich. Teb o
gated poo rly. but by the second lap had passed
Stich , Kliewer and Harristo close in on O'Do nnell.
For the next few circuits of the track, Tebo
wa s all over O'Donnell looking for a place to
pass. Harris had his hands full holding off both
Stich and Kliewer in third. With slightly over a
lap remaining. Te bo made h is way around
O'Donnell a nd gra dually p ulled away for the
win. Harris held back Kliewer to finish third.
O'Donnell led Stich and Kliewer thro ugh the
first turn to get the second moto started. A lap
later it became a tight, four-rider battle for the
lead between Stich, Kliewer, O'Donnell and
Tebo. Stich and Kliewer remedied tha t situation
on the following lap by making co n tact off a
jump and going down.
By the halfway point, Tebo made the pass on
O'Donnell for the top spot. Tebo easily stretched
out the lead aboard his Motul/Oel-Amo Motos po rts /Shoei / Racecrafters /Sunstar-backed
CR250 for the second-mote win. O'Donnell had
Harris on his back fende r making him work all
the way to the checkered flag for the runner-up
position. Kliewer recovered to take' fourth . with
Stich roun d ing out the top five.
Results
