california Trail Rid~s Presents the 5th Annual thunder through the lights in 9.5887 - a time slo we r onl y than Frazi er' s. Ha rry Schreib er followed his teammate, but had troubl es from the time he drop ped the clutch. Schreiber fought off a w heelie, bu t never go t a cha nce to dial on the throttle ha rd, and ha d to settle with a 1O.965l. The 540cc start-up of rou nd two saw Klont th rot tle to a straight-run climb, making it over the top for the first time, but clocking a conservative 12.4137. It was a personal victory for Klont, but not enough to elevate him above 14th place on the day. The Canadian Wilkins got a squirm off the first kicker, but straightened up to lob over each of the now grooved lumps and pump out a 9.1949 - fast enough to advance him to second. "I lined up in a groove:' he said. "1 was a little bit crooked, but 1 thought if 1 feathered it through the rough stuff, it would be okay." Soter's return to the hill proved useless, as his nea r-perfect run fen apart with a bad wheelie off the second jump. He shut it down and rolled to a stop over the third jump. The incomplete run left Soter in third, and he said, " 1 think I've got a problem with that one jump, 'cause the KI0 used to do the same thing all the time. I've got to work on that one." Pinsonnault powered his way to the top in a no-holds-barred run. With a straight shot to the top, Pinsonnault rocked to a 9.1840 time, taking top honors of the 540cc class. "It hooked," he said. "1 could feel the bi ke starting to move. I just crouched down and rode the rest of the hill as hard as 1 could ride it. 1 tried to keep it as straight as possible. My new longer swingarm helped a lot today." Dent powered the first BOOcc bike onto the hill, bouncing off the first kicker and landing left of center, where he stayed and clocked a 9.7025. He dropped to the six th by day's end. Gerencer's return to the hill was one big blast starting out of the left side of the p it. He turned on the throttle and stayed on it all the wa y to clock a 8.3766. "It felt really good," he said. "It was easy to ride. You ge t th ro ugh th at first part of th e hill straight and just tum it wide open and hang on." Gerencer's efforts rewa rded him with the win, with teamma te Schreiber second with his wheelie festival of a ride. "In the second rou nd the hill got a little better," said Schreiber. "I lost momentum coming over the jump, and the front end started coming (up) again and I just played with it . Th at' s what it took for Lou to get aroun d me." Frazier stayed on the bubble until Gerencer and Schreiber bum ped him off during the second round. Du e to his injuries, Frazier was unable to ride a second time, which put him in third place.a Bushkil Valley M.C. Stee l City , Pennsylvania Results: September 11, 1994 S4l>. 1.
