1995 very season, the really serious racers get their new 250's. take them home-tear them apart-and trick them out. It's Just the standard routine that racers go through. Bad news guys-you can't do that anymore. • You see. we took the YZ250, and rather than take It home. we took It to the factory. Tore It apart. And really tricked It out. • We started with the engine. adding a resonator box to the Power Valve system and used a Kelhln carburetor which gave the motor a harder hit In the mid-range portion Of the powerband to give you more pUlling power out Of the corners. We changed the Intake manifold radius and reed valve system for Improved air flow. Even the a lrbox passageway got boosted, so the YZ250 can take bigger oxygen gulps. And we changed the Interna ls Of the Power Valve for more control and a longer. wider power hit. Then we topped It Off with a stronger Ignitio n system that generates higher voltage at the spark plug. We even dove Into the transmission and figured out a way to make It Shift crisper. • The next stop was handling and suspension. We went Into the Racing Department and borrowed their fork design that features the new mld-range1ravel valve. It boosts the suspenslon's mldstroke performance (where your forks work the hardest). Then we slipped In a larger shock piston and ring set-up. Finally. we changed the steering head angle. tucked It In a tad for quicker steering. then changed the triple clamp offset to provide Just the right balance between precise steering and straight-line stability. • From there we moved onto Improving the brakes. The front now has new pads for a more positive feel. while the rear got a new stainless steel rotor and a new caliper . guard. And since the wheels were off anyway. we designed a new spoke set-up to give you more time between maintenance Intervals. • The last thing we did was brighten the color a little bit. Didn·t make It faster-but It looks cooler. • Sorry about taking all that hop-up. trick-out stUff away from you-we Just couldn't resist doing It ourselves. • E YZ250 t's living large In the high rev range-the 125 class-a world Of wide open throttle, lots of clutching and a billion Shifts per lap. The smallest mistake can Instantly drop you back six posltlons-and the slightest edge can be the difference between grabbing a trophy and going home with a handful Of excuses. It delivers better, stronger power.• The YZ125 still hits hard-very hard-but now the additional power boost gives you more usoble power to point and shoot with .• 125 Pro riders know that when you're totally on the gas. you con't back Off Just because Of gnarly racetrack bumps. This year's YZI25 suspension Is fine-tuned to keep you ahead of the wolves and out Of the banners. The front forks have received a new mid-stroke damping valve (tested and proven on the works bikes) for better performance when the forks are battling the bumps In the mid-stroke range-where your suspension works the hardest. • The rear shock has a larger piston, piston ring and a top bearing Teflon sheath for Increased suspension durability. It's a suspension package that Isn't going to let you down or fade away on the closing laps. • Since the YZ125 now goes faster, It made sense to make sure It stops better too.
