KENWORTHY'S yes terday. Maybe I should not be riding." To the d eli ght of the crowd, Nicoll was making a fantastic cha rge through the fie ld , soon advancing as high as ei gh th. "I cou ld h ea r them, and that always helps," he admitted. The r e was n o denying Alb ertyn , though, as he crossed the line nine seconds ahead of Dem aria, and 26 ah ead of Evert s. "It was an easy ra ce," he said later. "The track was a bit slippery, but I really didn' t have much of a problem." "Once he was a bit in front, I could not pull him in," said Dem aria. "It was too difficult." _ Following Ev erts w ere Voh la n d, Bervoet s, Her ring, Trampa s Parke r, Nicoll, Dewit an d ' Frederic Bolley. Dobb was a lowly 24th . MOT02 The second.ou ting was similar to the first, but this time with Demaria and Albertyn reversing positions. "When you're chasing the front guy, it's always mo re difficult," said Everts. "This track - wi th its big jumps and mud - is not easy." .By lap thre e the Fr enchman had made a s mall break from Nicoll, who w as holding up Albertyn. The champ squ eez ed pas t s oo n a fter, and Ev erts also got by a sho rt while later. Dem aria and Albertyn , however, were already far ahead. A lbertyn ac tually made u p s om e gr ound on Dem aria, arriving at his rear wheel after a few laps . Demaria held his lines while Albertyn looked for a way around, first attempting to motor by on the lon g straights and then valiantly trying to ou t-brake his opponent. Nothing worked, however, and Albertyn nea rly fell as he clip ped a wire fence while try .ing to get by on the final lap . Finally, the South African settled for the runner-up spot. "Now I want to show everyone that I can do th is again, " said an elated Demaria. "I am so happy." "It's a pity, but it was also best to slow," said Albertyn. "I was taking too many chances."
