four, "The Rut" claimed one last victim.
"It just grabbed the bike, and before I
knew what was happening, I was alongside - instead of on - my bike. I knew I
couldn't save it, so I just tried to get
clear," said Butler. "The bike carne up
Unfortunately, neither of the riders'
crews could remedy their problems.
"Guess I rode it like the old timers
tonight," sa id Landes, who struggled
horne in eleventh. "I really think I could
have at least finished third if we could
have fixed the throttle, but I'm happy
just to do as well as we did," said Farris,
who finis hed a respectable fifth. The
res tart was uneventful this week , with
no radical changes seen off the line. But
Roeder felt th e res ta rt rea lly affec ted
him, even though he moved into third
on lap eigh t. "I fe l t like I lost m y
rhythm. Before the res tart everything
felt real good, the n I jus t could n't get
th at sa me feeli ng back," said Roed er
and hit my thr oat, but I'm okay." Butler
was done for the night.
The red flag allowed two ride rs who
were having trouble to attempt repa irs.
Landes coasted into the repair area with
no brakes. "I lost them on the first lap.
Th ere's no brake at all," said Landes.
Farris was having throttle problems.
"It's sticking open and I can 't get it to
turn. Once I get set up it won't slow
down," said Farris.
