(Y""~ Thomas trashes Dade City MX By Kyle Myers DADE CITY, FL,JUNE 5 Over 200 riders braved the hot Florida weather at Dade City Raceway for round 13 of the florida Motocross Club Series, with Jason Thomas recording a four-mote sweep in the 80cc (14-15) and Super Mini classes. In the first Super Mini mot o, Clint Sh ealy jumped out to the early lead over Jessie Ballard , Tyson Had sell and Ray Hansen. Ballard leaped by Shealy on the opening lap as Thomas worked his wa y up after a midpack start. By the end of the second circuit, Thomas had mo ved into the runner-up spot until Ballard crashed, hand ing Thomas the lead. Thomas pulled away for the win over Shealy, Hadsell, Hansen and TIm Bantle. The second moto was all Thomas, as he led from start to finish. Hansen ran second early in the moto until Ballard and Shealy battled past. Bantle then passed Hansen at the ha lfway point to take over fourth. At the flag it was Streit'sbacked Thomas taking the win ahead of Ballard , with Shealy, Bantle and Hansen rounding out the top five. Thomas later returned in the 80cc (14-15 ) event where he topped both motos over Hansen and James Hurnbertson. Back in action alter a wrist injury was Brian McElroy, and he won the first 250cc A moto over Ricky Hampshire and Paul Currie. In the second moto, Hampshire grabbed the holeshot as McElroy and Currie gave chase. With McElroy d ropp ing out of moto two, Hampshire took the mo to and overall, while Currie wa s second. JUNE 4 Thrasher Magazine/KG-s u pported Brian Pappalardo waited until the third month of the 1994 So uthe rn California Speed wa y season befor e grabbing a main even t w in in the first d ivision ranks at Speedway USA. Pappalardo showed th at his perseveran ce w as well placed by scoring the eight-man, eightlap Handicap main event win before 3400 fans a t the high desert facility. Starting on the 4Oyard line with only Mike Reed on the 10 and rookie Dustin Evans on the scrat ch lin e, Pap p alar do bided his time and worked past both ride rs wi th a lap to spa re, rid ing flawlessly to the win followed by Jeremy Ad en and John Ad en . Mike Faria was fourth. Faria drew the pole in the Scratch main with John Aden, Andy Northrup and Charlie Venegas to his righ t.
