Up to this point, Karlsson has had a tough season, so this day's win was extra sweet for the Swede. "Finally I'm showing some res u l ts," sa id Karlsson. " Th e championship is not ior me this yea r, bu t if 1 can get some more wins, 111 be satisfied with that." . Edmon dson scratched any pre-race p ra ctice thoughts, instead saving his body for his assault on the cIass points lea d held by the inju red Grasso . The Gas-Gas rider, Edmondson, won the first two tests and looked to be headed for a perfect day before Nilsson came back to win three tests, leaving the final MX test to decide the class winner. If Edmondson won the moto, th e day would be his; the same for Nilsson. Edmondson blasted out of the gate and won the mo to, lying Nilsson for the 125cc class win for the weekend. "I really needed this. Finally, luck is on my side," said Edmondson. "After France, 1 felt worse than anytime in my career, so this is great." Nilsson finished second on the day followed by Maurizio Carminati, Petteri Silvan and Xavier Puidemont. Sala added yet another 20 points to his series tally with his Sunday win, resulting in the overall cIass victory. He topped Pellegrinelli by a massive 12 seconds. Third place went to Paolo Fellegara, finishing just ahead of Esquirol and Joachim Hedondah1. As far as winning the class cha mpionship, Saia isn't counting his chickens before they hatch. "Sure I'm in a good position, bu t look what has happened to Giorgio (Grasso). It's not over yet." Pe llegrinelli faile d to w in a time check over the weekend, but still fin ished second in class. "Giovanni was very smooth today; on this course, you had to really keep your mind," said Pellegiinelli. With Grasso and Sala leading their respecti v e clas ses, Ma r io Rinaldi is do ing the same in the 350cc Four-Stroke d ivision. He won his class on Day Two, maintaining his points lead over Svenerik Jonsson. "The Italian was too fast for me today; I got a bit tired," said Jonsson. "Last yea r Fab io and Giovanni won titles. It would be in my best interest if 1 go t one for KTM this year," said Rinaldi. Erikss o n fi nish ed third ahead of Nicoli and Frenchman Christian Boulet. Tiain en got back on a winning track Sunday with a victory over Farioli and [arasl ov Katrin a k, thus increasing his series cIass lead to 15 points over Farioli. Wi th the next roun d being held on his ho me soil, Tiainen has a good chance of stretching out his lead even furthe r. OJ Uppsala, Sweden Results: June 11-12, 1994 (Round 4 of 6) UW: 1.
