Benitez, w ho laid sixth on the lap with
the same score as con tenders Pons and
Basis. All three rid ers had 24. Colo mer
faltered with a 25. After two laps, th e
standings were: Tarres 33; Ahvala 37;
Miglio 44; Pons 47 and Basis 49.
Tarres initi ated the decisi ve lap , but
was shadowed by the Finn from Fantic.
Nevertheless, he was not on ly ab le to I
maintain his lead, but he mana ged to win .

"At the halfway point of the championship, my title hopes are looking better I
and better all the time," said a happy Tarres.
Ahvala held on to second overall with
a fina l lap scor e of 13, while Mig lio

final lap. Basis and Pons rounded out the
top five.
