As is the case with any motorcycle,
there is alw ays roo m fo r some
improvement Though we were morethan-pleased with the CR250's engine,
we we re curio us to see what type of
power a change here and there would
generate, Just in case we didn' t like our
findings, we elected to leave the engine
stock an d experiment with a bolt-on
pipe and silencer, This way , we could
return the bike's familiar powerband
with the flick of a wrench. And who
did we tu rn to for help? The answer
seemed ob vious. What do supercross
champions Rick Johnson, Jeff Stanton
and Jeremy McGrath have in common?
Well, other than all be ing factory
Honda riders, each of them competed
at one time or another with a Pro Circuit pipe and silencer fitted to their .
CR250s . If Pro Circuit was good
enough for those gu ys , why not?
Arguably the most popular aftermarket
hop-up shop in the MX industry, we
also turned to Pro Circuit for help with
the bike 's suspension, as well as for a
handful of other good ies.
Pro Circuit owner Mitch Payton was
happy to supply the pipe and silencer
for the project, -and , in addition, fitted
our Honda with a pair of their extrawide, extra-beefy footp egs. Cu rr ently
the rage amongst supercross racers, the
wid e footpegs are stronger th an th e
stock-units and provide a wider platform, thus spreading the impact from
hard landings over a greater area of the
rider's feet Payton also installed one of
the Works Connection skid plates that
Pro Circuit offers, as well as a Pro Circuit non-slip seat cover, made by Ceet
Racing .
