DAY 2 Sunday morning was gree ted with a heavy thunderstorm, one that would give many of th e rid er s fits . Some o f the special te sts had si m p ly become mud pits, but the 125cc machines seemed to ha ve less trouble than the bigger bikes. Italian KTM riders Fario li and Mario Rinaldi both complained of a lack of powe r from the ir fo urs trokes. Grasso started off with a win in the first special test, but was soon hauled in by Italian Stefano Passeri, who won the second test. It was Edmondson's tum to shine on the final -loop, and he took over the lead - until the loop was thrown out. "Bloody Italians; they do it all th e time," said Edmondson. "This just isn 't fair." "It is not my p rob lem ," countered Grasso. "I rode well all weekend, and the points are mine." With a hea lthy lead and the next round to be held in his homeland, Grasso is brimming with :onfidence. France had their only winner of the veekend in the Heavyweight class, vith Peterhansel adding a Day-Two vin to that of Saturday thus earning a >erfect 40 points. Esquirol, his countrynan and main competition, was not so ucky. Tiainen, a former World Champion, ook revenge on Katrinak by winning he Heavyweight Four-Stroke di vision m Day Two , thu s taking over the class Nin. Tiainen holds the series lead with 10 impressive 77-point total, the highest series score of an y class .
