Wh en Morehe ad passed me and pulled away 1 had thought, 'Man, 1 better get back in line: but then he dropped ou t. After th at, 1 ra n her off the groove a couple times and then got real conservative." Wh en the checkered flag flew, Parker enjoyed a decent lead over Ca rr, while Fletcher collected third a full straightaway behind. Davis was three seconds behind in fourth, with Roeder close behind. Atherton finished a lonel y sixth, while Springsteen, Landes, Stump and Rogers rounded ou t the top 10. "This is awesome," said Fletcher. "I jus t kept plugging away. Once 1 p assed Roeder, 1 looked ahead and didn't see anyone, so 1 figured that 1 had to be in third." After running as high as sixth, Farris spun out on lap 13. "I was running and tearin' , a n d everything was looking good," said Farris. "I was d icing it ou t wi th Davis an d Fletcher, try ing to figure it all ou t, but then w e got tangled up and m y ass end slid out. 1 was feeling real good up until then ." Another non -finisher was Hill, w ho ran as high as seventh before dropping out w ith a blown motor . "This is very unusual," said Hill 's team owner, Mike Shattuck . "Aa ron ' s mechanic, Monte Heath, builds wonderful machines . We were wondering when we w ere gonna get bi t. [ guess it was ju st o u r turn tonight." Rounding out the fin ishers in 14th place was a very disappointed Pegram. ''I'm ju st not coming to terms with the new bike yet,, " he said. "I suck. And you can print that."
