the scoring barrelsat the end of the first 10.5-mile lap. Unfortunately, Plessinger took a wrong turn after exiting the scoring barrels and gave up all the time he had gained on the fitst lap . That's when Shad Ricketts, on his newly sponsored ATK, took over the lead closely followed b y Kawasalci-mounted Jared Green. and Patterson. The second lap saw Green and Patterson take con tro l of the race until the fourth of the five laps , while Plessinger was steadily worlcing his way bad to the lead . The sta rt of the fourth lap saw Plessinger, Patterson, Neal Raggett, Ricketts, and John Maschino running in the. top five, but Patterson so o n pulled off with an ill -handling bi ke. .Pless inger broke awa y and showed his national caliber riding skills by pulling out to nearly a four-minute lead on the rest of the AA Class by the end of the final lap.
