Peters in the Expe rt class. Peters, ranked third in the Nationallrials series last year, won the event witha total of 21 points, while Arnold was second with 42 po ints . The Ad vanced class winner w as Da vid M. Reed w ith 81 p oin ts over Matt H ughson with 89 points. Section four for the Expe rt and Advanced Rid ers offere d many tight tu rn s in loose a nd slippery rocks, an d a four-foot un dercut-led ge d ro p -off. Arnold sai d tha t thi s section was a very "busy" sectio n wi th all of its turns. Section eight was a monster hill climb. The Expert riders foun d that they needed third or fourth gear in order to reach the top of the hill. The Advanced riders h ad to dimb only abo u t two-thirds as hig h up the hill as the Expert riders. The Intermediate class saw winner Charlie Camin, with a total of 43 points, edge out two other riders by tw o points. Mark Pettit took second place with 45 p oin ts and 18 clea ns ov er Roger Allis, who also had 45 points bu t only 17 cleans. The Senior A class winner was Laverne Bowen wi th 24 points over Car l Peters, who had 33 po ints. The Novice class, the largest of the day with 12 riders, saw Dav id A. Reed edge out Joh n Pileski for first p lace wi th a score of 21 po ints 10 Pil eski's 29 p oints. The Senior B class win ner . was Robert Schra der with a lo tal o f 22 poin ts. Ron Bors won the Super Senior class with a total of 41 poin ts. Eric Reed com pleted the Reed family sweep wi th a win in the Rooki e d ass. Williams ra n away from the compe tition in all four molos by scoring wire-to-wire victories. Josh Warner was ab le to stay wi th Williams th rou gh out the day bu t had to settle for second p lace in bo th classes. Race five of the Californi a Mini Motorcyde Club MX series was also the kick-off even t of a four-race mini series between the Barona Oaks ri ders and rid ers from n eighboring Tem ecula Racewa y. A lotal of 204 rid ers competed in 30 cl asses on th e two sepa ra te tr ack s at Ba ron a Oa ks Racew a y. Th e mini series will be hel d at bo th tracks, wi th each hostin g two even ts. May 22 is the date for roun d tw o which will be held at Temecula Raceway. Bill y Lanin o v ich b ested th e field of 80cc St ock (9- 11) ri d ers in both th e CM MC and Temecula d ivisions. Lanninovich ran away from the Temecul a ride rs but found the competition more int ense in the CMMC class . Scott Nelson ran off with the first CMMC moto, whi le Laninovich ha d to come from third off the line to finish second . In the next round, Nelso n again took off ea rly but DNF'd, which allowed Laninovich to inh erit the win. Nelson had been able to keep it togethe r earlier in the day to wi n the 80cc Mod ified (9-11) class, Dustin Nelson was an unstop pable force in the 12Sec Intermed iate and 125cc (16-21) dasses. Nelson and Cory Bendor put on a show in bo th of these 125cc classes; Bendo r, however, found it impossible to get by Nelson. Brian Reichel took home the 125ee Beginner trophy but had to earn it. Reichel found himself third off the line in the first mo to. He was able to take second on the third lap, but had to follow early leader Justin Blower two more laps before taking over the lead . Blowe r aga in holesh ot in the next moto, but this time Reichel was on his tail. Reichel took over on the secon d lap, bu t Blower came right back on the next lap . Onc e Reichel regained the lead on lap four, it was all ove r for Blower. Rya n Beat continued his winning stre ak in the Pee Wee Stock (O-ll) and Semi-Mod classes . Beat ha s mastered track two and appears to be the one to beat in both of these Pee Wee dasses.
