pass Kucirek, and then I fell off. Tod ay was not my day. " Liles was another in trouble. "I gated good, but when I went to try to pass Van Doom, I cross-rutted and ran straight into one of the mounds of soft dirt which had been scraped off the track," said Liles. "I was back up to ninth on the last lap when I collided midair with Whatley; if I hadn't laid it down it would've broken my arm . The clutch lever was broken off and all I could do was struggle to the line." [obe was off the pace but persisted for seventh, while Lechien, who had chased him early on, dropped back to 11th. "My goal here was to finish top 10. I only just missed that, so that is something to work on," said Lechien. cr Payeme , Swilzertand Results: April 10, 1994 (ROUnd 1 of 11) MOTO 1: 1. W Championship 1 Motocross Series orld 25cc Round 2: F GP rench Pichon prevails SOURDEVAL, FRANCE, APR 10 ika el Pichon, the 'l S-yea r-old French teenager wh o won the 12Se c class at the San Diego Sup ercross last year and who is hailed by his countrymen as "the next Bayle," took a big step along the road towards justifying that tag when he swep t both motos of a muddy second round of this year's 12Sec World Championship MX Series at Sourdeval, 30 miles inland from the Normandy coastline of his homeland. It was Pichon's first-ever win at this level and w iped out the trauma of a pointless opening round two weeks earlier in Italy. Conditions were so bad that Pichon, w hose machines are prepared this year by ex-Jobe/Malherbe/Bayletuner Jean-Marie Hacking, lapped up to eighth and 12th in the two motos with a winning average speed of just under 24 mph. The maximum points for the win have moved him straight into fourth place in the standings. American Bob Moore relenquished his lead in the standings when he struggled home ninth in the second moto, three minutes down on Pichon. He had earlier finished third in moto one. The new points leader is defending champion Pedro Tragter, w ho twice chased Pichon home, while Italian Alessio Chiodi completed the podium with 4-3 moto finishes. The title already looks to be between these four riders. The results of the French GP were vital to those riders hoping to be amongst the 15 whose expenses will be paid for the up-coming round in Argentina, May 1. (The Bra zilian round, scheduled for the previous weekend has been cancelled). Amongst those who failed to make the cut and must thus pay their own way to South America are 1986 champion Dave M Snelling en; 15. W im Van der Hey den (502 ). O/A: t. Mika el Pichon (Ho n); 2.
