By the next straigh ta way , Cason motored by Hansen to take back secon d place. Hunter took the w in followed by Cason, but Hansen ended up with a DNF due to mechanical problems. The seco nd- mo te start was a repe a t of the first moto with Cason pulling a large holeshot. By the end of the second lap, Cas on had put considera ble lime between him self and the seco n d place ri d er, Hunter. On the third lap , Hunter's pit board read. " You' re s lacki n g ." Hunter p icked up th e pace immediately and pa ssed Cason through the whoops on lap five to tak e the win. The firs t moto of the 250cc Pro class was also dominated by Ch ris H unter. who led from the first tum to the chec kered flag. Hansen narrowly ed ge d out Chad Spi d e ll for sec o nd pla ce. Th e second 250 mot o wa s led by H ansen, w h o immed ia tely ope ned up an eight-seco nd lead. He. wa s pulling away from H unter, who was in second pla ce, wh en Hunter sudd enly kicked in the afterburne rs and in two laps caught Hansen by double-jumping two huge singles that were never intended to be d oubled. Hansen caught on to the time-saving maneuver, and he. too, d oubled it. But it was not enough to hold off the har d-chargin g Hunter, w ho ou t-ju mped h im after a small tabl etop and pu shed Han sen o ut in the next tum. CaIman PAHRUMP, NV, MAR. 26 Scott Morris made it look eas y as he took first overall in t he 250cc Expert cla ss at the Last Chance Hare Scrambles near Pahrump in so uthem Nevada. The d esert race, the seco nd in the Motorcycle Racing Association of Nevada (MRAN) series, was described by one race official as "30 miles of course and -10 miles of rocks. " Expe rt and a mateur classes rod e a total of 60 mi les to complete the course, while no vices rod e 45 miles.
