major event wins - much like American Larry Roeseler. Included on that list are the Paris-Dakar and Paris-Peking rallies, the ISDE and th e '93 French Enduro Championship . The 28-year-old should sta rt strong in ro un d one in Spain, and continue in good form into the French round. Whether he can hold his form will only be confirmed as the series goes on. Being new to the series could harm him , but don't be surprised if the Rally King is the 1994enduro champ come July 24. Dutch ISDE he roes Gerard Jimmink and Henk Knuiman may also hold a few su rprises if the series is hampered by rain, and even if mud doesn't beco me a factor, these two might just kee p Sala , Esquirol and Pet erhansel off the top of the po int standings. For a straight pick go for Esquirol and his mighty El Campero Husqvarna . Th e Frenchman likes hi s own chances as well. "I 've wanted a cha mpionship for a long time," he says. "Last yea r I missed out, but I have time on my side. Maybe I can do it this year; I think I've improved enough." Sweden's Sven Erik Jonsson has three World Enduro Championships and he wants more. The 1993 350cc Four-Stroke title holder -is n ot at the peak o f h is career, but he is far from finished . With age creeping up on him but experience on his side, the 32-year-old should have en ou g h left to wi n a t least one more championship, bu t he'll get no rest from coun tryman And ers Eriksson. Runner-up to Jonsson in '93, the Husky pilot is only 21 years old, and now has a year of experience battling one of the all-time greats. Italian Arnaldo Nicoli is one of Jonsson's El Campero teammates, and could also cause plenty of headaches for the Scandinavians. Fabio Farioli could be the main chance for an Italian to take one of the four classes. The defending champion is a favorite to win the 500cc Four-Stroke division, but has some strong opposition from ano ther youngster, Pe ter Jansson. These two, along with Kent Karlsson, should pro vide an exciting battle. The two Swedish chargers ride for th e impressive Team Husaberg Swed en, while Farioli - son of Italian KIM importer Arnaldo Farioli - will predictably be aboard a Farioli KTM. The . difference could well be decided at these riders' home rounds in Sweden and Italy. The list of talented riders does not end with those mentioned above, but they should definitely be the top guns . As far as teams go, EI Cam pero Husqvama and Husaberg Sweden will continue to be the major squads to bea t, but several smaller camps have formed for the '94 series, and they will also be a factor.
