Though Deveau had ridden his pants off, Gra y found himself in fourth place - and 48 seconds out of the lead - when he took to the track for the final 20 minutes of racing. "I figured that we were out of it:' said Gray. ''1 wen t out there with the intention of having a good time." And what a good time it was. From the moment he took to the track, Gray began to chip away at the distance between himself and his rivals. With five minutes left in th e race, he found him self only four seconds out of the hunt. ''When I saw my pit board that said only minus four, I really got on the stick: ' said Gray. In those last five minutes of the race perhap s the onl y five tha t featured any action at all - the girth y rider overtook all three of the teams that led him and raced the Dutchman Racing Yamaha across the finish line with 5.013 second s to spare. After leading the majority of the laps, the shocked Erion Racing team of Michael Barn es and Christian Gardner were further miffed when the Fastline MCM Suzuki of Jacques Guenette Jr. and Tommy Lynch nipped them for second, only inches before the finish line. Along wi th wh at was arguably their swee test - and most unexpected - win, Dutchman Racing also inherited the series poin ts lead. Dutchman has 97 points, four better than Er ion Racing and Team Kawasaki Muzzy, who sit in a tie for second wi th 93.
