By Tony Alessi WHITNEY, IX, MAR. 18-20 eff Willoh and Kevin Wind ham led a Kawasaki Team Green sweep of the Intermediate and Expert classes at the GNC International Motocross Finals, held a t the picturesque Lake Whitney C ycl e Ranch . FMF IO'Neal-backed Will oh wo n seven of the eight motos that he competed in en route to overall victories in the 250cc Stock, 250cc Modified and 125cc Stock Intermediate classes. Not to be ou tdone by Willoh's nearperfect Scorecard, Windham raced away with a four -mot o sweep in the 125 and 250cc Expert classes. Southern hospitality was in the air as the Surber family once again hosted what is arguab ly th e be st -organized event amongst the "big" amateur races across the nation. " We are ve ry plea sed," sa id Chief Executive Officer Jerry Surber. "There was a 50% increase coming through the gate from last year. There is an electricity in the air that we haven't seen since the days of Ward y and DeCoster." The track la yo u t could only be desc ribed as the ep ito me of outdoor motocross. The track featu red numerous wide loamy berms, fas t whooped-out straights, and a rutted technical section that rou ted riders through a tree-strewn river bed. "Anything could go wrong - you could hit a rock and fall, or get a flat tire. I never really pushed it too hard ; I just rode smooth." Windham's Team Green teammate Case y Jo hnson and local racer Roy Schellenberger battled tooth and nail in all four motos and swapped overall finishing positions . Johnson to pped Schellenberger in the 250cc cl ass for second overall, while Schellenberger got the nod in th e 125cc d ivision.
