Wallin would p u ll away sligh tly to take the heat win. In the main , Bar ton sho t in to the lead with Larry Sparks, Dell Ellenson, Bryan Ada ms and Gen e Hodge in hot purs u it. Wallin m issed a shift three fee t out of the ga te and en tered the first tu m dead last in the 26-rider field . Barton quickly established a hea lthy lead by clea ring all the jumps, while Wa llin was stu ck in the pack. Ellanso n moved into second by passing Sparks . Wallin b roke in to the top five at the halfw ay p oint, then di sp laced John Sheffey, Spa rks and Ellanson to move in to second, but found himse lf do wn eight seco nds to Barton. Pr est on Sullins an d Ste p he n Hi nk le kept close company all day in the Ope n B class to finish 1-2, and Ta rras Massey p iloted his Kawa saki to first in the 250cc B class, with Gary Horton finishing a respectable second . Kyle Pulle y pu t in a consistent ride on his Kaw asaki to take the wi n over second- p lace rid er John Bingha m in the 200cc B class. The Hea vy Trail class boas ted the lar gest nu mber of entries for the day at 43, wi th on ly the top five riders in the class completing four lap s.
