CZ-mounted Dale Demaris , the former d ese rt
MX star of yesteryear turned off-roa d specialist,
made another return to his roots and won the
Open and 40+ Expert classes during the Vinta ge
Dirt-sponsored vintage mot ocross at Woodland
Motocross Park.
Torren tial rains all week caused some concern, bu t afternoon sunshine mad e the sandy
tra ck quite nice. Dema ris foun d it to his liking,
winning both 40+ mo tos easily ahea d of Charlie
Brown. Greg Barber, Gene Boere and Jack Call insky.
De m a ris put his Northwest Maico/CZbacked CZ400 ou t front in both Open class motos.
He was chased by CZ rider Doug Eckel man
throughout the first molo with Ducati rider Larry
Saxton no t far behind. Demaris also dominated
moto two, capping off a perfect 1-1 sweep, while
Eckelma n was n' t so lucky and crashed . Clayton
finished secon d 10net the Amat eur win ahea d of
CZ riders Kenny Drynn and Rich White.
Eckelman go t lucky in the 30+ class, after a
te mble cras h took out lead ers Randy Jun gwirth
and Gar ry RoUer. He WOIl, after Joe Casey, who
too k the lea d on th e last la p, threw away all
chances for a win by aiding teamma te Jungwirth. Keith Webster took moto two by storm
over Bryn n , White, Steve Sprague and John
Smith. and the overall win as well
In 250cc action, Shawn Brown and Utah's
Robert Borg led molo one, with Brown picking
up the wi n ahead of Roller. Brown wasn't as
lucky in molo two as the Hickman rider threw a
chai n. giving the wi n to Suzuki rider Jeram ie
Holmes, who netted the overall ahead of Webster and ~.
