Kiedrowski, who had been steadily cl imb in g up the leaderboard , passed Emig at the same time, and the top four positions were set. On the final circuit, with a cush ion of three straightaways on St anton, McGrath did a "nac-nac" over the triple and cruised to his third-straight win . : "He (McGra th) rode the track a lot quicker than I did," said Stanton. "He had a good race. I'd like to win, but I'm up her e (on the podium), I gave 100%, and I'm happy." Ward was third ahead of Kiedrowski and Emig. Matiasevich rode a great race, earning top privateer honors in six th place - his best finish of the season. La mso n advanced to seven th , w ith Swink taking eighth. ''I' m ju s t going through the motions," said Swink. " I couldn ' t get my head into it all night, and I don' t know w hy. I started about like I fin ished, and it was just like I was pla y-rid ing or something." . Craig overcame an inopportune firstlap crash to take ninth. "I crashed in the mud," he said. "Me and another guy hit and I got knocked off the track and into a mudhole. I got back on in last (place) and worked my way up, so I'm pretty happy with ninth." Henry completed the top 10: " My shoulder was fine, but I got a.I ittle tired," he said. "I did too much between Orlando and Houston, and my shoulder was hurting, so I took it easy this week. I was right there and I saw those guys, but I started fading after 11 laps. If I was a little stronger I think ! could have moved up:' 125cc The first 125cc heat race had an inter.national flavor, with Mexican National Champion Ped ro Gonzalez winning easily. Brit James Dobb mad e it a SplitFire 1-2 fin ish, and Fr ench m a n Fr ederic Viall e was third . Bad er Manneh , a n American wh o contests the Grand Prix circuit, took fourth place with Kawasaki rid er Cory Keeney com pl eting the top five. Damon Huffman walked away with the second heat , while Craig Decker wa s approximately 15 second s back in second. North County Yamaha' s Donald Upton took third ahead of Butch Smith and Jason McCormick. After the Las t Chance Qualifier was topped b y A xel Holvoe t, Go n zal ez hol eshot the IS-lap 12Scc main even t. Gon zalez, Decker and Manneh argued o ver the lea d for th e first tw o la p s, while Huffman recovered from a fifth place start. Huffman soon nu llified the struggle for first pla ce, movin g into the lead and se tting a torrid pace. Gonzalez stayed close for a while but came up s h o rt on a ju m p a nd fe ll off the pace. U rid e well for 10 la ps, bu t then I I ha ve pain in my wrist and lose my head, and Huffman s ta r t to p ull a w a y," explained the likeable Mexican. "Next week I hope to do better and not fade. I will try." Huffman crossed the line more than 15 second s ahead of Gonzalez, earning the fifth win of his career. "I had a bad start, but I was able to move up pr etty quickly," said Huffman. "I felt a little more relaxed than last week. " "I got off to a slow start, and by the time I got a clean track th e y we r e gone," said the third-placed Decker. " If I can get a better sta rt I might be able to do better. Those guys ha ve some experience on me, so I'm just trying to learn as much as po ssib le a t ever y race.
