Harada rode a Team Va lesi Telkor-b acked Yamaha in 1993. .The Silv erdome in Pontiac, Michigan, will host the continen tal United States' first -ev er Pan Pacific S u p e r cro ss Cha mp ionship Seri es event on Sunday, April 10. The internationa l race, previously staged in Hawaii, w ill feature 125cc riders from various nations bordering the Pacific Ocean and will share the bill with the inaugural 250cc Pontiac All-Star Challenge. The 250cc portion of the even t is expected to attract many of the stars of the AMA Came l Supercross Series, who will be racing in the 10th round of that series in Pont iac 'on April 9. The Pontiac round will serve as the opener for the Pan Pacific series, with additional races scheduled for India on August 28 , Japan on November 13, Indo nesia on December 4, and Thailand on December 10. The A merican Motorcycle Institute (AMI) will hold its fifth ann ual Brut e Horsepower Shootout at its campus facility near Da ytona Internationa l Speedway on March 8-11. Entrants will compete for over $15,000 in cash and prizes. AMI will use its new Dyn ojet Dynamometer to determine the horsepower of each entrant's mo torcycle, an d th e champ ion w ill be crowned on March 11. For more information con- Lawson to defend title in Da tona 200 F our-time World Champi on Eddie Lawson will again come out of "ret irement" to ride a factory Yamaha YZF750 in the Daytona 200 on March 13. Accord ing to sources close to Lawson, the Califo rn ian's team w ill be a join t effor t between the Yamaha factory in Japan and Yamaha Motor Corp. U.S.A., and will most likely not be tied to the Vance & Hines team with wh om Lawson won last year's Daytona 200. Lawson won last year's 200 miler after a near race-long battle with Muzzy Kawasaki's Scott Russell. Team owner Rob Muzzy is looking forward to again competing against Lawson.
