aboard his Dallas Honda/

Friday and Saturday night to jump into
the series points lead at round five of
the Tucker-Rocky /ProLite AMA
National Arenacross Series in the
Kansas ExpoCentre.
"I hope my win was a great birthday
present for my dad, who is here watching me tonight, but I'm just glad to be in
the points lead now," Goodman said. "I
hope I can hold on to it because when
(Jimmy) Gaddis and (Billy) Whitley
come back it's going to be tough."

FRIDAY
Frid ay night's 12Scc main event
bega n with five-time National Arenacross Champ ion Dennis Hawthorne
grabbing the holeshot with Goodman
right behind him. Goodman wasn't
about to settle for second and made his
move quickly on lap three, passing
Hawthorne through the whoops. Goodman never faltered and cruised around
in the lead while the racing went on
behind him. Doug Stone, on' an

Excel-backed KX, hammered Hawthorne lap after lap looking for a way
past. Shawn Morgan also moved up
from a mediocre start to pass Roy Schellenberger and Carl Hansen for fourth
place. Hawthorne held second until a
bobble through the doubles gave Stone
the opporutnity to pass. Morgan also
dogged Hawthorne, relegating him to
the fourth position. As the race unfolded, Goodman cruised through lapped
traffic to take the win with Stone finish ing second. Morgan, Schellenberger and
Hawthorne rounded out the top five.
Goodman also proved to be unstoppable in the 250cc main event, grabbing
the holeshot and leading from w ire to
wire. Schellenberger, Morgan and Stone
formed a train, tying up second, third
and fourth. Trey Owens provided some
excitement by moving his Yamaha of
Oklahoma/Scoobs/Baker Boys YZ2S0
through the pack after a poor start to
finish fifth.
SATURDAY
Hawthorne again nailed the lead off
•the line with Tinney and Morgan in tow.
Goodman was mired in the pack several
places behind the leaders. Hawthorne
pulled ahead of Tinney slightly while
Goodman had p icked off riders and
began to challenge Tinney for second.
Goodman again tripled cleanly past Tinney and set his sights on Hawthorne,
and the win . Goodman pulled up alongside through the whoops and made a
block pass in the next tum. Hawthorne
went down, and Goodman took control
of the lead while Tinney slipped back
into second. Morgan continued to hold
third while Owens moved up from
eighth to fourth. When the checkered
flag came out, Goodman took the win
followed by Tinney, Morgan, Owens
and Woolsey.
.
In Saturday's 250cc main, Goodman
was again flawless as he punched it off
the start and never looked back. Goodman styled his Honda CR250 to the win,
followed to the finish by the Kawasakimounted quartet of Morgan, Stone,
Schellenberger and Hawthorne.
Bradley Ripple thrilled the crowds
with his jumping ability on a stock YX50
as he raced to Pee Wee class wins on
