break that he did in the first moto and was forced to fight for positi on. Davis and Keeney d ogged Parsons in the opening laps until Parsons gave in to the pressure. Davis first picked off Parso ns th rough the wh oops, th en three turns later Keeney took over second. While the top three riders were jockeying for position, Bader Manneh was on the gas and moving up fast. Manneh first picked off Taylor in fourth, then took over third on the following lap when Parsons started to fade. Davis and Keeney swapped positions for the lead and before they could make another move, Manneh was knocking at the back door. The top three riders started to bang bars until Manneh finall y slammed his way into the lead on the final lap. When it was finally over, Manneh won the moto with Keeney, Davis and Parsons crossing the line in that order. Parsons took tfie overall win with the most points garnered. In.the 250cc Pro class, Mike Healey and Kyle Lewis sw apped moto wins, with Lewis grabbing the overall by virtu e of his second-moto win. . In moto one, Healey was clearly the man to beat as he jum ped into the lead at the start and never looked back. Parsons and Lance Smail held the runnerup spots during th e opening laps of moto one. Lewis suffered from a poor start, bu t quick ly moved through th e pack. "I had to come from behind," said Lewis. "I was about 12th at the start," By the halfway p oin t, Lew is h ad worked his way into second, but Healey had pulled out a huge lea d. Lewis wasn't able to close the gap and had to se ttle fo r second. Parsons held o nto thir d while Smail fell back to fou rth . In the secon d go-rou nd, Par sons grabbed the early lead with Lewis, Manneh and Healey ho t on his tail. Lewis and Healey squeezed past Parsons on the second lap to take the top two positions. The stage was set for a du el to the end. Healey reeled in Lewis, but wasn't able to find a way past. Healey kept trying until a mishap cost him the win. " I thought I had him through the whoops, but I tried to triple and landed in a hole," said Healey. After Healey's mishap, Lewis pulled out a lead that was too large to close and went on to take the win; Healey had to settle for second; Parsons hel d on for . third. In the 60cc 0-8 year-old class, Daryl Eckla nd pulled off the win by beating out Scott Howe in the second moto to take the overall. In the first moto, Howe had led the race from start to finish, bu t Eckland held on to the all-important second spot. The second moto was all Eckland, as Howe found himself in third afte r the first lap . Howe passed Kyle Partridge to take over second, but Eckland had a good lead. At the finish it was Eckland with the win while Howe crossed the line a disappointed second. Other exciting action took place in the 250cc Intermediat e class as Team Green rider Dustin Nelson won both motos to take top hon ors in the class. In the first rnoto, Nelson made it look easy by leading the race from start to finish. In moto two, however, Nelson had to earn his keep as he battled with Patrick McMullen and teammate Jeff Will oh . McMullen led at the start, but by the second lap Willoh and Nelson flew past him for the lead. Those two ride rs went at it until the fin al lap, when Nelson finally made the pass for the lead and the win. a Sunrise Valley Raceway Adelanto, California Results: January 9,1994 (Rou nd 1 of 4) PW BEC: 1.
