In the 250cc main, the fina l event of the we ekend, things go t off to a rocky start. During the first lap, whil e Gaddis, Jones and Brett Hamilton were all vying for the number-one position, two of the riders collided. Gaddis came up short over a double jump and was used as a landing pad by Hamil ton . As a result, both riders hit the ground, with Gaddis getting the worst of it. He was eventually taken to the hosp ital and was later released. Hamilton, on the other hand, was shaken up . but otherwise okay . The crash forced the red flag to come out and a subsequen t restart. Jones blasted into the lead ahead of Vohland and Dubach, w ho quickly relegated Vohland to third. Dubach then set his sights on the leader, Jones, who eventually crashed. Jones lost control of his bike in a section of whoops and launched his Suzuki off th e tra ck. He qu ickly re-entered the race, but not before losing four positions. Dubach settled in to the lead with Smith second and Johnson third . On the last la p , Jones, who had worked his wa y back up to fourth, bega n p utting p ressure on Johnson and made one last-ditch attempt to pa ss. Jones stuck his front wheel underneath Johnson 's Kawasaki and out-dragged him to the checke red flag for third.
