McGrath w ent 1-1 in th e 250cc class on Friday, with Jeff Stanton (Han) fini shing secon d, Larr y Ward (Suz) third and Michael Craig (Yam ) fo u r th . Ryan Hug hes (Kaw) top ped Frida y's 125cc cl ass comp eti tion, with Frenchman Mickael P i ch o n (Hon) second a n d Craig Decker (Hon) third. McGrath also won ,the Superfinal, which pitted 125 an d 250cc rid ers head to head. Stanton was second ahead of Ward and Craig. On Saturday, McGrath again went 1-1 in the 250cc class, beating Stanton, Craig and Belgian Stefan Everts (Suz). Hughes again won the 125cc division, with Pichon second and Decker third. In the Superfinal, McGrath won over Stan ton and Frenchman Fred eric Bolley (Yam). Sunday saw Stanton win the 250cc class, wi th McGrath second, Frenchman Yann Guedard (Kaw) third and Craig fou rth. Decker won th e 125cc cla ss a he ad of Hughes and Pichon, and Stanton won the Sup erfinal over McGrath, Ward and South African Greg Albertyn (Hon). Brian Sw in k (Suz) won the main event a t the Osa k a -Supe r cr o ss in Japan, November 13. Dou g Henry (H on) was second, with Mike Kiedrowski (Kaw) third and Steve Lamson (Hon ) fourth. Patrick Garrahan (Hon ) won the overall at the Wilsey vill e H ar e Scrambles in Ca lifornia's Sierra Nevada Mountains, becoming only the third ride r to do so on a 125cc mot orcycle. Eri c Mas h b ir (Hus) was second wi th Kipp Classen (Hon) third. Australian Daryl Beatti e ha s sig ne d a two-year contract with Marlboro Yamaha, according to rep orts from Aus tralia. The 23-year-old will be pa id a reported $2 million by the Ken ny Roberts-owned squad to team with Italian Luca Cada lora. Mamola will again serv e as a test rid er for the Roberts squad in 1994, helping the team sort through Dunlop tires while also helping d e velop th e n ew bike. According to tea m owner Rob Mu zzy, Brit Terry Rym er will join World Sup erbike Champion Scott Russell on the Muzzy Kawasaki team in 1994. Muz zy was courting Aaron Sligh t to return to the team, but Slight mad e a d ecision to go elsewhere. Rymer signed a one-year contract. "I think it' ll be good," Muzzy said on Novembe r 15. " I d on't know w here Aaron will go. H e ha s an offer from Honda and from Ducati ." Muzzy also reports that his bikes did make it back from th e ca nc elled Me xico City round of the series, sched uled to run on N ovember 7. Puig, who finished n inth in th e 1993 250cc World Cham p ions hip on a Ducados-backed Ho nd a NSR250, will be Sito Pons' only rider in the 500cc GPs, replacing Alex Criville, who rep ort ed ly will ta ke his Spa nis h Marlboro m oney to ano ther team in 1994. It is also likely that Puig 's 250cc GP r id e w ill be take n over b y Spaniard Carlos Giro, wh o rod e in the 125cc GPs this year. Nobby Clark, the man who wo rked on man y of the factory Honda road racers in the 60s, multi-cylinder mo torc ycles rid den by the likes of Mike Hailwood and Ji m Red man , is cu rrently working for Team Obsolete.
