G Fall Series: Round 2 FI Perolio prances to Perris MX win By Tony Alessi PERRIS, CA, ocr. 17 . oleen Yamaha rider Shaun Perolio turned in two consisten t moto finis hes a t t he s eco n d round of th e G FI Fall Series, held a t Perris Raceway, and was re w a rd ed with the overall win in the 125cc Intermediate class. T he s e con d r ound drew s o m e 5 0 0 ride rs, all o f w hom were seeking th eir share of the cons id erable manufacturer's contingencies up for grabs. The starting gate was packed with 25 riders at the start of the opening 125cc Intermedia te moto, and when the gate dropped it was Gabe Bolivar w h o m o to red off the line with the holeshot ahead of T ravis Preston and Tyler King. Bolivar offered little challenge for King or Preston, as both riders swooped past and into the top two positions . Together, the two riders set a blistering pace and began to inch away from Boli var. Emerging from the pack a fter a p oor s ta r t was Perolio. "I went w ide in the first tum and went into some s o ft d irt that m ade me lose m y momentum," said Perolio, who moved in to fi ft h b y the mid-way point in the m oto. Pe rolio managed to up his pace even furth er and pa s s E ric Wright and Bo li v ar for third . T ime r an o u t fo r Perolio, however, before he could make a run at th e leade rs . At the fmish line the order was King , Preston a n d Perolio. In moto two, Boli var grabbed his second h ol eshot of the d a y and had Eric Schnell and Perol io breathin g down h is neck. Schnell w a s ridin g very a ggressively, and found a line that propelled he and his Suzuki 15 feet into th e air over a d ifficult set of double ju m p s. " I found a sm oo th line on the inside of this tum tha t no one else was ta k in g ," said Schnell. "That set me up perfect for the double." Schnell gained a few feet w it h each pa s s in g lap and finally d ove und er Bolivar in a s wee p e r to take over the lead. A lap later, Perolio al s o pass ed Boliva r and set out a fte r Schnell. Perolio pushed Schne ll h ard d u ri ng the final lap s and it appe ared a s if Schnell w as feelin g the pressure . The lead e r bobbled a few times, but nevertheless held on to score th e moto win. It wa s Pero lio ' s s e c o n d- p l ace finish , though, th a t wrapped up the overall win for the Yamaha rider. " 1 came here to w in both motos today," said Perolio. "But I knew that I had the overall and I just rode smart. " Bolivar returned in the 250cc Intermediate class and waged a private war with Chris Wheeler. Wheeler won the first moto, but Boli var came back to win the all-important second moto after spoiling a last-ditch pass attempt from Wheeler. Bolivar nabbed the overall win over Wheeler, Ryan Ragland and Chris Cooley. ~ N Results so BEG: 1. Dane Jack. ~n (Yam ); 2. Jimmy Willia ms (Yam) ; 3. Ch r istor her Renshaw (Yam ); 4.
