Competition bu ilt KX-250 to the overall honors
in the 2SOcc A class. wh ile Jim Chester stole the
125cc A class w in awa y from Neese as round
two of the Ca rolina Fall Ultra Series headed into
Devils Ridge MX.
Nee handily took the first three motes and
se
was o n his way to a fou r- mote sweep un til a
poor s ta rt in the final 125cc A moto left him
play ing catch-up to Chester. Although Neese fell
short of the swee p he still had a productive da y
by making over $700.00 in ea rn ings and contingencies for his efforts.
Chester was the only rider to come close to
Neese in mote one of the 125cc A class as many
of the top riders had gotten mid-pack starts and
were dea ling with workin g past the 125cc B
class riders that started with the A class . Chester
used the sta rt to his advantage in mot o two as
he put his VZl25 in front from the drop of the
gate and tried to pu t as much space as possib le
between himself and Neese, who was well out
of the top 10 afte r the first circu il Chad Lough
charg< ha rd afler Chester the entire moto but.
,.j
could no t ge t a strong enough effort up to eve r
take the top spot. Meanwhile, Neese was slicing
and dici ng thro ugh the pack, mov ing ever so
close to the leaders. Neese 's time ran out after he
wo rked his way past Bobby Sto vall and Sha ne
Tem ple ton for third place. Chester's moto win

Templeton roun d ed ou t the top five, respectively.
Senior class act ion in the 30+ division was
fast and fu rio us as long-time rivals Ron Jones _
and Scott Ship ley went at it in both motos like
they were stil l 16-year-old teenagers. Jones
jumped ou t front a t the start of moto one with
brot her Kerry jo nes and D.1rrell Bell slidi ng into
second and third. Shipl ey was right in there in
fourth ahead of Tripp Miller. Miller went down
in the second tum and dropped all the wa y back
ou t of the top 20. This did n't seem to concern
Miller as he remo untL"CI quickly and worked his
way back to fifth in one lap. Ron jones was able
to hold the top spo t at the IL1g over Shipley and '
Kerry Jones.
Moto two tu rned out to be the tigh t race as
Jones again grabbed the ho leshot. but Sh ipley
w as breathing down hi s n ec k rig h t away .
Shipl ey made a strong pass after the first lap to
take over the lead for the ne xt few la ps, until

looking to force a mistake. When Jones saw the
hal fw ay flag he knew he could n ot co u n t on
Sh ipl e y to mak e a mis take and tr ied to duck
und er Shipley as the MO roundt.~ the comer to
take the wh ite flag. Jones slid to the outside of
the co mer wh ile exiting the tum as Shipley tried
to maint ain his postio n by ra iling th e o u tside
berm. Th e two riders me t up at the end of the
tum, and Sh ipley ended up on the downside of
the tangle while Jones cru ised around one more
circ uit to ta ke the second moto w in a nd th e
overa ll.
