Despi te mi ssing the Gatorback opener w i th his umpteenth wrist injury, laRocco rode imp ressive ly, hou nd ing his Kawasaki teammate thro ughout the series. A notoriously poor starter, LaRocco improved his gating techni qu e and was often the fas test ri der on th e tr ack. Tho ugh his first-ever 250cc Na tional wi n didn't come until the final round, he finished the series as the runner-up - a n impressive feat for a rider who sat o ut one round and rod e injured upon his return. The '93 MX season was a hot o ne - literally - with tem peratures and humidity soaring a t nearly all of the rou nd s . Normally, the National tour is p unctua ted by severa l m ud ru ns, but there was not a single rai n-soaked event in '93 .
