When they reappeared Lain was in the lead and stretched it until the end . In the second mota Lain cam e off the line in seco nd and made his move to the front in the tu m followi ng two sets o f stu tter bumps. Lain lost hi s p lace after s lid ing ou l in a turn a nd dropped to second, bu t he regained the lead on a se l of s ma ll d o ub le jumps fo llowi ng t he dropoff on the back side of the track. AUG. 20 Th irteen-year-old Ito Posca left little doubt as 10 wh o was the fastest 80cc Novice rider tonigh t as he roosted his compe tition in bo th motos for the overall w in a t California Racing Club's Friday night motocross at Lo s Ange les Counly Raceway. I The Smi th/ Answe r/FMF/No Fear/Race Tech/lOO'Yo /Norlh Co unty Yamaha-sponsored Posca timed the gale perfectly to lead Chris Honnold, Shaun Milchell a nd Jake Gribbon in the opening molo. Posea immediately started to pu ll away from the field . Mitchell was attacking Honnold in every turn and finally doublejumped past hi m for second place on lap two. Once in second, Mitchel l's bike ga ve up, hand- ing him a DNF. Gribbon shot around Honnold to ta ke over second place only to find Posca's lead insurmountable. .. " After the first lap I started cruisi ng because I knew I was going to win," sa id Posca after his first moto wi n. "'I d id n't wa n t to go all ou t beca use I d idn 't want to crash while I was in first place." Gribbon finis hed second ahead of Devin Seeger, who put in a n excellent ride coming dead last off the starl to work up 10 third by the checkered nag. Posca nailed the second moto holeshot with Gribbon hot on his taiL Joshua Poole a nd Honnold were ba ttl ing for third while Seeger gated last again. -I don't get out of the ga te fasl eno ugh , then I go l a little squirrelly, went off the track and had 10 catch up" sa id Seeger. And catch up he did . By the thi rd lap Seeger had cha rged his way up 10 th ird place behi nd Gribbo n. Gribbon went down h ard a sho rt time lat er han di ng Seege r second place and a clear sho t at leader Posca, "I almost ha d h im in a co r ner when the lapped riders were in our way, but a guy on a Yama ha got in my way so I could n't get him " said Seeger after the race.
