AUG.8 For the first time in ma ny weeks , a mot ocross event at Lincoln Tra il Motospo rts Park was not p reced ed by an evening of heavy rain and over 150 riders enjoyed the fast track tha t resulted. It was a knock d own, fight-and-claw style of racing for some classes, most notably the 250cc B class wh ere the overall was literally deci ded by a kick. James LeMaslus on a Kawasaki, was able 10 keep a lead ove r Barclay Gebel on a Honda thr oughout the first moto to take the win. But Gebe l came back wi th a vengeance and di d not simp ly make the second moto a closer race, but a war. Gebel got the holes h o t b UI LeMa s t us jumped right back into the lead in the tight hairpins on the fast p art of the track. Gebel draped on LeMaslus ' rear wheel and wo uld not let go as the two ran away from the rest of the pack. Coming into the final set of whoop-de-does preceding the final tu m heading to the checkered flag. Gebel mad e hi s move o n the inside tr yi ng to beat LeMaslus to the corner but LeMaslus wo uld give no room an d both riders wen t down three feet from the finish line. The crowd screamed as both riders furio usly kicked over their stalled bikes and urged them a few feel further. LeMastus had the q uicker foot as he literally threw hi s Kawasaki over the line for the moto and overall win. Gebel took a hard-fought second . As has been the case for much of the year, the 12See C class again gave the fans a real racing show as the top five p laces ra n as a pack for both motos , Tony Kissel took the holeshot in the fir st moto and held a sma ll lead over Ma tt Wilson w ho kept ahead of Jack Robbins, Mitch Tisserand and A.). Hall . Hall charged. overtakin g both Tisse rand and Robbin s but fallin g short of Wilson before the checkered flag came d own. Hall again go t a med iocre start in the second mo to but was able to ho ld th ird in a five-bike line as Robbin s held a microscopic lead over Kissel, Hall, B.). Hall and Eric Orman. Robbins Kissel an d Hall started to pull away from the field by the second lap and the charge was on for the checkered flag. Despite co ming even with Kissel several times , Hall was u nable to overtake him as Robbins extended his tiny lead to a few secon ds over the pair. When the white flag came out, Kisse l ha d chisel ed out a th reesecon d lead over Hall but was una ble to catch Robb ins who took the second moto win followed by Kissel and Ha ll. Kissel took the ove rall win and Robbins captured second as Hall had to se ttle for third. Chad Chancey (30) gets nudged to the outside by Todd Gardner (377) at W est Palm MX. 250 c: 1.
