1994 Yamaha YZ250
~
Rather than red esign the YZ250,
Yamaha engineers opted to refine the
machine with a long list of subtle
changes. The end result is a b ik e that
look s the same, but runs much
differently than its older brother.

he1994 Yamaha YZ250 has to be
fast, righ t? Jus t look at the graphics!
If there's one symbol that suggests
speed, it's got to be the lightning bolt.
Yes, the new purple, yellow and red
color scheme appears to be the big news
in '94, but fret not, Yamaha engineers
did a lot more than just add the
"Shazarn" graphics to im p ro ve their
most -popular motocrosser. A long list of
minor changes (Yamaha claims over. 50)
to the motor, frame and suspension , add
up to a package that feels much different than its predecessor.
Un fortu n a te ly, the biggest change
that the new YZ underwent has nothing
to do with performance. A $450 price
increase brings the price tag up to a
whopping $4899. That's about par with
what the other manufacturers are asking
for their 250s, but Yamaha has eased the
bite a bit with three attractive sales
incentive programs. From August 1 to
December 31, riders who purchase a
new YZ will also receive a "works kit"
that includes a spare top end , a
Yamalube lubricant kit, a set of Dunlop
tires and a T-handle wrench set. In addition, purchasers are eligible to participate in Yamaha's Track Techniques
