take the holeshot, w ith his brothe r, Kyile, Ernie
Sanchez and Smith in his d us t trail. Smith qu ickly pa ssed Sanch ez and set his sights on FinneJ's
rear fender. Reyes. mean wh ile had go tten a midpack sta rt, was on the gas and passing riders left
and righ t. He pa ssed Sanchez to break into the
top five . Reyes cleared the Twi n Pea ks flying
over and pas t Finne ls, but not before Smith had
muscled his way by.
With the wh ite flag out, Reyes was now only
a co uple of bike-leng ths behi n d a nd closi ng .
Reyes remained a ttached to Smith's rear fende r
for the comp lete lap and set up the East Coast
ride r in the final tu m . Reyes dove to the inside,
Smith railed the outside and thei r pa ths led to a
sing le line. Bumping and shoving. Smith led the
wa y across the checkered .
When the to tals we re posted it wa s Smit h
with the wi n, followed by Reyes, Eddie Finnels,
Legiiu and Cory Gibbo ns roun d ing out the top
five slo ts.
