Back in mid pack Brinegar utilized the do uble jumps to get by McGuire who had been de moted to third by Dunlap only two comers previously. Following Brinegar's charge to the pack was Davis who was determined to improve on his first moto finish . The two Honda riders almost Went down in the rockers as Davis clipped Brinegar in the later half of the whoops. Neithe r we n t dow n b ut it did a llow johnny Jackson to close on the pair. Davis, de termined to get by Brinegar, set him up by go ing w ide into the scor ing tower comer and then cut back to the inside and too k over seco nd . Clark captures Christiana Motocross win By Bart Wilber CH RISTIANA,TN,jULY25 Clar k Stiles p ut on an ae ria l sho w en route to scoring the overall win in the 250cc C mot ocross action at Ch ristiana Raceway, Stiles mad e trip le jumps out of do ubles and turned his leap from "the Pit" into a dou ble to sea l the victories. In the first moto it loo ked as if Danny Lain, the front-runner off the line, would be able to off the field of 10 riders. Lain held the lead u ntil land ing hard and reinjuring a wrist tha t he had hurt the previo us nigh t. Stiles came fro m a sixthplace start at the gate to charge up and take the lead, ma king the final pass on the back port ion of the t rack following the drop away ledge. Stiles pulled away from the pack to win with a six-second lead . In the second mo to Lai n was in th e lea d again ahead of Sliles and Phillip Myers. Style once agai n p ress un. d Lain for a lap while look> ing for a spo t to pass, fina lly grabbing the lead in th e tum fo llowi ng th e drop away. The t rac k held a half mile on Saturd a y and TT Sunday. Saturday night's half mile drew over 30 Pro-Am en tries bringing the purse tally to over $1,200 , a nd it w as O ' Boyle who grabbed the biggest share of the p ie then turned around and picked up the Pro-Am IT on Sunday . The two opened a hole on Lj Schaidt by lap thr ee while Eric O'Boy le tucked low in the last seco nds of the heat passing Klug and Eugene Cop eland ou t of tum four to take the last di rect transfer . Hall tops Indy RR By Larry Lawrence CLERMONT, IN, JULY 25 Kurt Hall won all three Suzuki GSXR Cup races at Indianapolis Raceway Park and left $1500 riehcr. For Hall winning at Indy is nothing new, he's been d oing it for the bet ter part of ten years . HaIl is the target all the riders shoo t for each year at Indy, and this yea r the Sou th Ca rolinian held them off for yet another time. Hall 's domina nce of factory contingency money races at IRP prompted one rider to sa y tha t he hoped Hall wo uld retire soon; or at least quit coming to Indy. Hall's bigg es t challenge at IRP came from Team Ham mer teammate Stevie Pa tt erso n . Pa tterson led in both the CSuperstock and B Superstock races before being caught by HaIl. In C Superstock Pallerson led for seven of the eight lap fina l. On the last lap HaIl made up a 1.5 seco nd deficit an d passed Patterson on the back straight to take the win. In B Superstock Patterson led aga in on the final laps. The lower sectio n of his fairing began to come apart on the straights. Patterson had to slow. Hall took adva ntage and won going away. Pallerson, just barel y held off Kevin Rentzell for seco nd a t the checkered flag. In A Superstock it was all HaIl. Lead ing from the start, Ha ll ran away w ith the race and turned the fast est lap times of the wee kend a t l:38's . A ro un d of the Yama ha Seca II Ch allen ge was held at Indy. Two of the top contenders Mark Middl eton and Mark Whitehurst crashed togeth er on the first lap . That left Steve Dooli n and Dee Hamilton alone in a batt le for the lead . Hamilton. a forme r top WERA sprint racer from the Southeast Region in the mid-SO's who has just returned to racin g, tried pas sing Doolin ev e ryw h ere to no a vail. Doolin was doing a great job gu arding the inside line and thwarting Hamilton's efforts. In the closing laps Hamilton, realizing passing Doolin would involve too much of a ris~ turned aroun d and saw that no one was close and settl ed for second. The Hayden brothers Tommy and Nick ran away with two races each. Frank Wilson won four more novice races a t IRP extending his win ning streak to 28 straight races withou t a d efea t. Un fortuna tely for the you ng Canadian a crash in B Superbi ke ended his streak.
