Firs t I read abou t Ricky Graha m stop ping to take a phot o wi th a yo ung fan at Devils Bowl Speedway in Texas. Then [ read th a t Ricky s topped by Mi chael , Mario's house in Michigan to s pen d some time with hi m. I wa s there the day tha t Michael got hurt at the Jackson ville Half Mile in 1981, and since thEn have been re nd ered in the same situation, a quadriplegic. ' Wh en the Grand National race was ru n at Ha ge rstown Speedway recently, one of my frien ds was given a Te am Und o T-shirt by Rick y' s tuner Johnny Goad to give to me. Ricky too k the time to sign it, "To Brian . Best wishes , Ricky Graham." In this era of high price at hletics, you find you rself roo ting for the underdog. I don 't care if Ricky is ridi ng a Honda or a Schwinn bicycle, my w ish is for him to win the Na tional Cha mpionship . I first met Rick y w hen h e w a s a young rider with a gleam in his eye and he had number 41 on his number pla tes. Now I see a much more mature Ricky on TV wit h the sam e gleam in h is eye . Keep it up on the p ipe for the rest of the season, Ricky, and I'll get my wish . Brian Van Wright Ti moni um, MD Boo, double points I can' t believe Roger DeCoster likes the su p ercros s for ma t fo r N ation al s, a nd double points is in !'O way fair to Mike Kiedrowski. H they want to try this format, don 't do it at the e n d o f the Na tional 250cc MX Series, do it for the w ho le Nation al so o« MX Series . That ' way it's at least fair. It still stinks , but at leas t it stin ks the sa me for everybody. I just read ab ou t the Fall Series and tha t so un ds gre a t. I hope it turns out like the old Trans-AMA Series. Greg Franks Caddo Mills, TX We're told that the "supercross ' fo rmat will be used at all A M A National Championship MX Series races next year. As you no doubt already know, Kiedrowski clinched the 250cc MX National Cham pionship prior to last weekend's Glen Helen National.
