The team was runnin g si xth on its Suzuki GSXR600 afte r weav ing through the 3D-team field before being stopped by the red flag. Luckily the stoppage lasted only 10 minutes - but it also forced them to re-start again from the sevent h row . Series poin ts le a d e r H ornblower Racin g wa s th e rea l u nreco gnized success story of the weekend with its thirdplace finish . The team 's Honda'was seriously damaged at Road Am erica when Owen Weichel crashed and it caught fire, burning the velocity stacks. The team finished 21st and thought it migh t be over for the year, despite its points lead . A team member said that owner Bill Hornblower had become d isenchanted with the expens e and was read y to ha ng it up. Riders Jon Cornwell and Weichel talk ed him into keepin g his .en try a nd ended up using Jim Leslie's Supersports pec Hon d a CBR60 0. The y m ounted slicks and went ou t and finis he d third, earning eno ug h points to maintain their se ries points lead. They n ow lead Sou th west Mo torspo rts, 181-173. Mo to Liberty is third with 169 points as thin gs are closing up at the front. Fourth place went to Fastline/MCM Suzuki II with Scott Zampach and Craig Gleason handling the riding chores. The tea m was making only its fourth start after missi ng the first three rounds; they have scored a th ird , two seconds and now a fourth-p lace in the four races they have en tered. American Flyers rounded ou t the top' five fi nishe rs with Todd Harrington and Mike Murphy completfig 32 laps on the team 's Honda CBR600. Fastline/MCM's Zampach h ad th e early lead as the entire front row with the except ion of Hornblower go t off to tremendous starts. The real shocker early on was the presence of the 1050cc Mo to Guzzi of Raceco at the .front of the pack. At one p oint th e Ronald McGill /Peter Johnson team ran third, but the red -flag and a leaking fuel p etcock en d ed the team 's d rea m s.of a h igh finish. Th e y ended up 13th. The res tart sa w Southwest Motorsports take control, a position they would hold to the finish. m Results Saturday, .July 31 250cc N a t i o n a l M X F inal Rou n d 1 25cc N a t i o n a l M X Rou n d ?
