First off, stadiums are going to have uncomfortably close seating. How do you think they make money? Secondly, finding the Rose Bowl isn't a difficult thing to do, just follow the signs. Next time try opening your eyes, it might help. Thirdly, if you listened to heavy metal music for two hours at 3000 decibels, not only would you become deaf, you'd probably become brain dead as well, since around 110 decibels damages the human ear. And finally, how stupid do you have to be to think that yours is the only car leaving an event where there are at least 40,000 people? Next year, do us all a favor and stay at home. You won't be missed! Shaun Fluken Saugus,CA ON THE FRONT PAGE: Jeremy McGrath had already clinched the title at the previous round, but at San Jose's Spartan Stadium, the 250cc class rookie took his domination of the 1993 Camel Supercross Series one step further, earning his 10th win of the season and breaking the record set last year by Damon Bradshaw. Man is bummed out Man arrives home from work after a cerebrally challenging day at the office. Man pours beer into frosted mug, turns on TV and VCR. Man rewinds VCR, presses "play." The tension begins, beads of swea t form. Worst fears have been realized. What should have been one and onehall hours of supercross and MotoWorid is in fact one and one-half hours of bunt it, punt it, kick it, throw it, dribble it, toss it, spike it sports highlights/playoffs! Man screams. This is not a dream and it is not funny. GaryKlim Wallingford, cr We're told that several minutes into what ever show preempts the supercross telecasts, ESPN runs a graphic that tells when the originally scheduled show will be aired. We've never lasted long enough with a show that preempts scheduled motorcycle racing shows to verify that. The supercross slww that was bumped on Thursday, May 27, aired Tuesday afternoon, June 1. The June 3 Pontiac Supercross show aired as scheduled. Let ESPN Icrww Iww you fee! by writing or calling them (935 Middle St., Bristol CT 06010; 203/S8S-2000)...EditOT. planning to Central America. In that letter I requested help from a fellow cyclist in the Houston, Texas, area when I arrived there at the conclusion of my trip. My journey from Yaviza, Panama, to Houston during February and March was an unforgettable experience. I greatly appreciate how Cycle News helped me complete this journey. In addition, I would like to thank Femano Robles of Rialto, California; Guy Poindexter at Johnny Ward Cycles in League City, Texas; Ron Carbaugh of American Honda; and especially tim, Stacy and David Gibelyou of Pasadena, Texas. To return the favor, we have wonderful trail riding and dual-sport opportunities in Michigan. I live within 35 miles of the beginning of the 8OD-mile Michigan Cross Country Cycle Trail and can help anyone who needs advice or parking. Travel in Central America was exciting. It pays to be flexible. Some ability to speak Spanish is helpful, especially when crossing borders, but there were travelers who managed without that skill. The people I met were always friendly and helpful. That was a good thing because I traveled a lot of back roads with a noticeable lack of direction signs and thus was "lost" a lot. Call if you need any information about traveling in this exciting area. John F. Lang 7337 N. Luce Rei. Alma, MI 48801 517/463-4569 Flat track fan Right on! Your flat track special issue was welcomed and appreciated in this household. Having been a former (and present, in heart) member of this fraternity, I can understand the work and dedication these grea t athletes put forth in order to chase a dream. Thanks to Donn Maeda for the excellent coverage of an American institution, and to the entire staff of Cycle News for bringing not only race results but also the human side of our great sport into our homes each week. The interviews are insightful and entertain.ing, so please bring us more (Tolbert, Poovey, Ronnie Jones, etc.). Thanks again for hitting home. My subscription shall never end, just like flat track racing! Rap racer In your coverage of the Rose Bowl Supercross, I wish you would have mentioned the source of the rap song that was played when Jeremy McGrath cruised around the track. The song was written, performed and recorded by the 11th ranked Eastern Regional Supercross participant Jason Edwards. This multitalented rider is also a musician, a comedian and the best motocross interviewee I have ever heard. People who attended last year's talent show at the Loretta Lynn's Amateur/Youth MX Nationals may remember Jason as the rap singer who won by an overwhelming margin. Jason Edwards. Remember that name, 'cause he is on his way up! Billy Smith Alvarado, TX And there are those of us who remember listening to groups that Jason's father, drummer Ted Edwards Jr., played in back in the seventies. In addition to playing the drums, Ted was a pro dirt track racer as was his father, Ted Sr. Music and motorcycle racing run in the Edwards family ... Editor. Ask and you shall receive In January you published my letter describing the dual sport trip I was Rick Lewis Lone Grove, OK Go, R.G.! I just returned from witnessing Ricky Graham win the Springfield Mile. It did my heart good to see the privateers do so well against the well-financed factory team. The improvements Ricky has made in himself and in his racing efforts really showed, and I'm sure he would not have done so well this year without those efforts. Victory for "Mr. Springfield" was even sweeter when you consider that Graham's motorcycle is now seven years old. The point race may well be a threeway contest this year. Good luck, Ricky.
