rebounded with a
spare front end and
put the crash out of
his ntind long enough
to finish a close third
in the main event.
Hale (32), Scott Parker (2), Rodney Farris (92), Carr (1), Jay Springsteen (9) and Steve
Morehead (42) make the dash for the checkers. Hale and Farris edged Carr and
Parker. Springsteen thought he was third, but was credited with sixth.
With the help of a few friends, Farris' pit crew installed a new front end on the Eddie
Adkins-owned Harley-Davidson after Farris crashed hard in his heat race. Remarkably,
he finished third in the 25-lap National and matched his best-ever career National finish.

looked on and smiled. It was Hale's best-ever National finish.
Bret Beyer qualified for his
first-ever Grand National and
finished ninth.
Lance Jones (23C) topped
Springsteen (9) and Rich
King (SO) in their semi. Jones
was eighth in the main.
