Most privateers like myself have put everything they have into a 600. It's no secret that racing isn't cheap, but if the AMA wants to build a dirt track class for everybody, okay, so let's build one. Let's all just go down to our local (HarleyDavidson) dealer and buy an 883 for around $5000. It really gives me a thrill trying to throw around a motorcycle that is 200 pounds heavier than my 600 and is slower. Why didn't the AMA just call for a spec head, like the NASCAR boys, for Rotax motors, seeing that most everybody already has one and, hey, they are even lighter and could produce some races. The down side is Harley wouldn't dominate another class. As for me, 883 no way, and a 750 I can't afford, so I guess this race season is already over for me and a lot of other "privateer poor boys." ON THE FRONT PAGE: Damon Bradshaw recorded his first victory of the season in the AMA National Championship 250cc MX Series, scoring the win .a~ Mt. Mo~, Pennsylv~a:s High Point Raceway. Bradshaw logged 2-1 moto finishes and clirn~ to third Ul the series point standings. See page 10 for race coverage.
