Leib began to fade off the pace near the halfway poinl in the race, setting the stage for a one-on-one showdown between Lynch and Piattoni. The battle Iasled righl up to the finish-line flag. with Lynch winning by a knobby length. Leib faded back 10 an eventual si,th behind Scott Wilkinson, Ron Lawson and Ken Em. Leib again served' as the pace-selter in mota two, bUI again worked his way backwards as hard-eharging Wilkinson look over the point position. Piattoni and Lynch picked up where they left off in the flJ'St moto and battled for second for the first half of the moto.
