PALMDALE, CA. APR. 25
Josh Gregg rode smooth and consistent to take
the win in the 80cc Beginner class during
California Racing Club's motocross held at Los
Angeles County Raceway.
The first moto action saw Jason Webb slingshot into the lead with Gregg and George
laMonte trailing dose behind. Webb quickly
started to pull some time on the pack. Before
Webb had time to enjoy his lead, he cased it over
a set of triple jumps and lost the lead to Gregg.
Webb held onto the second spot after his near
crash. Ryan Dubek made a move on the third
place rider, laMonte, and made it stick.
By the third lap Gregg started to pull a comfortable lead on the second- and third-place riders. The battle for the second spot started to
heat up. Dubek was hot on the trail of Webb,
using the entire track to make a move. On the
fourth lap Dubek tried to make his move but
almost flew off the track. He quickly gathered
his composure to reel in Webb again. Webb was
riding a strong race, but Dubek was knocking at
his door once again. Webb got a break during
the dosing laps when Dubek was caught in lappers. Gregg was across the line first with Webb
and Debek following.
In moto two the tables were turned for the
first-moto winner Gregg. LaMount grabbed the
holeshot with Jason Dubin in the second spot.
Gregg was in the fourth spot after the first lap.
Webb went down in the first tum and would not
be a threat to the leaders.
Dubin stole the lead from laMonte in the
second lap. In the same lap Dubek also dropped
LaMonte back a position to take second. With
Webb out of the.race for the overall, Gregg had
to secure the win by placing third or better.
Gregg pulled in laMonte to grab the third position. Dubek tried to 'make a move on the leader
during the dosing lap, but time had run out to
grab the overall. Dublin took the checkered flag
with a disappointed Dubek in second and Gregg
in third.
