Emig managed to keep his Yamaha ahead of Ward and took the checkered flag first, but not by much. "1 never looked back," said Emig. "1 thought it was McGrath behind me the whole time. Ward was riding really good." "He (Emig) was blocking me," said Ward. "But 1 would've done the same e thing." Doug Dubach finished third in the first 125cc molo but broke early in the second. McGrath finished a distant fourth, and Suzuki's Brian Swink, who finished 37th in the first moto after crashing, passed teammate Lusk late in the race to finish fifth. Stephenson improved to seventh, while Gaddis, New England Cycle's Mike Treadwell and Grayson Goodman rounded out the top 10. "1 tried to get a good pace going and just waited for them to make mistakes," said Henry. "1 knew Emig was behind me the whole second moto, but it's so early in the season, 1 really wasn't sure how fast everyone is going right now. 1 wasn't sure if 1 should've been worried about him (Emig) or not." Second-place finisher Lusk said, "1 like this track. 1grew up racing on sandy tracks in Florida, and that really helped me out today." Lusk is from southern Georgia.
