IGoor (Y...~ Jenkins, York duke it out at Bremen Motocross By Gary Crider BREMEN,GA,APR.18 The final round of the Georgia Spring Championship MX Series at Bremen MX was highlighted by a fierce 250cc C contest that saw the win go to Richard Jenkins over Marcus York after matching moto scores. Shae Bently also put on a great show as he romped to the Senior Mini moto wins and then came back to top the 125cc Schoolboy division, riding the same 80cc Kawasaki. Stan Hightower had the initial lead in the opening 250cc C moto, but he was soon relegated to second by Buddy Bragg. Mark Copen eventually also had his tum at the front until a trip over the handlebars put him in the DNF column. Series winner Bryan Smith started about 10th but was able to take advantage of spills by other riders and moved quickly to the front. By lap three, Smith had put his Kawasaki into the lead to stay. Meanwhile, York and Jenkins moved up in tandem to finish second and third, respectively, over Bragg and Hightower. Smith had problems in moto two and had to settle for ninth place finish. still good enough to secure the series victory as well as fifth overail for the day. With Smith out of the picture, Jenkins and York were left to battle for the moto win and the gold that hung in the balance. Their match-up was finaily decided when York's late bid to pass in the high-banked final tum resulted in a crash. Jenkins motored to the win and the overall, while York remounted to claim runner-up honon; over Hightower and Bragg. York returned in 12Sec C action where he finished second behind Kyle Kelly's KTM. Area 125cc B competiton; should beware as Alabama's Lonnie Brown has returned to racing. Today he won every time out in both the 125cc B and Unlimited Amateur divisions. Series winner David McAdoo came from behind in both 250cc Beginner motos to finish with a perfect score over Tennessee's Craig Greer. Chad Albritton easily won the 60cc division and returned to win the Junior Mini class as.weil after first moto winner Thomas Emmett was sidelined in moto two. Brian Hoiladay was second for the day while Emmett claimed the series victory. .,. Resulltl P!W 50: 1. Christopher McCorkel (yam); 2. Scott Storey (Han); 3. 54q>"'" --...od (Yom); .. Ar&ew .........
