RMOTOCROSS NMA World Mini Grand Prix e Robbie Reynard (671) was the cream of the aop in the Pro classes. Craig Decker (behind Reynard) was the only other rider to earn an overall win. Reynard topped three divisions; Decker one. Jonathan Shimp (100) couldn't hold off Bryan McGavran (216) for the 60cc 6-11 win. 28 "They bounced into each other on the outside of this off-eamber tum," said. Sellards of the pass that carried him into first. "So I just dove to the inside and zapped both of them." Sellards' lead didn't last long, as he washed out in the next turn and dropped to third. Partridge and Perolio smoked past and on to the finish, while Sellards regrouped in time to save third. In the runoff, Partridge, Perolio and Sellards faced off against Bogard, who easily swept both motos in division two. lt was Sellards who had the fastest reactions at the start and roosted into the lead. "Bones from Pro Circuit worked on my bike' in between races and it really ran better," said Sellards. Sellards opened an immediate lead and began to pull away from Nelson and Perolio. Perolio spun out and handed third to Partridge, but Partridge's luck in reeling in Nelson wasn't much better. Partridge flew off the track and crashed. "The wind was really strong," said Partridge. "I was blown off the course and into some ruts." Sellards went on to win the moto and overall, while Nelson held on to second. Perolio moved back into third, and barely held off a last-ditch pass attempt by Bogard. Perhaps there was a bit of divine intervention, as Perolio's father got down on his knees and prayed aloud on the final lap. Partridge rounded out the top five. Billy Payne showed raw determination and squeaked out the win in the 80cc 0-11 class. The first moto saw Payne and Travis Pastrana - at nine years old the youngest Suzuki-support rider - battle throughout the race. Pastrana was awesome, and triple jumped through the rocker section, but fell victim to mechanical gremlins. "I got water in the carburetor and the bike started to sputter," said Pastrana. Payne went on to win while Pastrana blubbered home second. Brian McGavran, Bobby Bonds and Daniel Blair rounded out the top five. Pastrana was unstoppable in the second moto and powered away aboard his Cycle Engineering-sponsored Suzuki for the win. Payne crossed the finish line in second ahead of Blair, McGavran and Jesse Ketcham. In the runoff, a four-way battle developed between Johnny Marley, Payne, Buckelew and Pastrana. With the overall win on the line, Payne found a line to the inside of a double jump and landed in front of Marley to take over the lead. Payne poured it on and outdistanced Marley, while Buckelew crashed out over a big jump in the middle of the course. Moments later, Marley crashed hard after landing sideways in a series of jumps. This put Pastrana into second, where he would finish behind overall winner Payne. . McGavran inherited third and held the spot to the finish in front of Ketcham and Daniel Blair. McGavran returned after the 80cc race and led the first four laps of the 60cc 6-11 (year-old) Modified race. Jonathan Shimp provided the early action and passed McGavran for the lead. Once out front, Shimp established a sizable lead and scored the win over McGavran, Chris Gosselar and Heath Frazier. The second moto saw Shimp lead wire-to-wire. McGavran worked up from a mid-pack start to finish a distant second, while Bobby Bonds, Gosselaar and Frazier rounded out the top five. In the runoff, Shimp and McGavran banged bars from the get-go, but Shimp ended up on his head after a nasty crash in the finish area. McGavran took full advantage of the clear track ahead of him and roosted away with the win. Bonds inherited the runner-up spot, while Shimp regrouped in time to finish third. As expected, I<;evin Windham owned the Intermediate motorcycle classes. The Kawasaki Team Green rider racked up an impressive string of wins to nab the 125cc Stock, 250cc Stock and Modified Intermediate classes, as well as the 125cc Open class. Chasing Windham home in all four classes was his Team Green teammate, Casey Johnson. Johnson capitalized on a mistake by Windham to garner the overall win in the 125cc Modified Intermediate class. Like Windham did in the Intermediate classes, 15-year-old sensation Robbie Reynard decimated the competition in the Pro classes. Reynard easily swept the 125cc Stock and Modified Pro and 250cc Modified classes. Reynard's only defeat came at the hands of his teammate Craig Decker, who dashed to the win in the 250cc Stock class. Decker finished in the runner-up position in all three of the Pro classes that Reynard won. m Results PIW STX: 1. Garth Swanepoel (Yam); 2. Dylan Lord (Yam); 3. Scott Howe (Yam); 4.
