Perris motocross laurels to Matiasevich By Tony Alessi PERRIS, CA. APR. 10 Jeff Matiasevich (12) topped Tony Amaradio (17) in Perris Raceway's 250cc Pro class. Ken Remo (98) passed Paul Herman (69) for the 600cc Amateur win at Bakersfield ST. Jeff "Chicken" Matiasevich celebrated llie Easter weekend with the crew of GR Racing by posting the overall 250cc Pro class win· at Perris Raceway's Super Saturday MX. Tony Amaradio grabbed the holeshot in the opening moto and led the first four laps of the 12-lap race. Joe Schmoe Graphics-sponsored Mike Metzger pressured Antaradio from the getgo, and took over the lead on lap five. Once in the lead, Metzger began to pull away, leaving Amaradio and a hard-charging Matiasevich behind. At the halfway point, Matiasevich found his way into second when Amaradio began to tire. Matiasevich began to close on Metzger, but the kid turned the throttle harder and sailed over a huge double jump near the finish line. Matiasevich failed to duplicate Metzger's arial antics and dropped a few seconds behind. Metzger crossed the finish line with a IG-second lead over Matiasevich and Amaradio. Upon crossing the finish line, Metzger was cheered on by the approving crowd on hand. Moments before the gate dropped for the second moto, Matiasevich pulled up to the line next to Metzger and mumbled some inaudible Dave Wolfskill came out of retirement to win the 30+ Expert class with a 2-1 score. Jeff Dirago edged Wolfskill to the second spot in the first race, with Dirago leading three of the five laps. Wolfskill came back in the final outing and led every lap. Dirago held onto his second spot until Jerry Seip took over with two laps to go. Wolfskill earned the overall win with Dirago and Seip taking second and third. Expert-elass riders met again in the Cycle Motion-sponsored Dash for Cash. A feature of all five Tucker Rocky events, the Dash for Cash is open to the top eight finishers of all the Expert classes, offers a $500 purse and is run during the halftime break. After Carsten, Spear, Sheak, Dengler and Carroll took the top five finishes, Johnstown, New York's Andrew Cristiano won a Suzuki RMl25 that was donated and raffled off by Pro Motion of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
