; EVENTS e ('f) 0'\ 0'\ ~ ... ~ N . ,-4 $-4 ~ < Pooh Guiden negotiated this Stateline MX jump on his way to the 12SCe C class win. than a Humvee. Race promoters were forced ta reroute much of the course. A much shorter cir· cuit was the net result, which suited Bachman justfme. In the first 250cc A mota, several riders col, lided on a double jump near to the starting line. Fellow Honda rider Trent Hansen was the early leader and appeared to be on his way to an uncontested victory. Like a seasoned Pro, however, Bachman narrowed the gap and then took over the top spot from Hansen with just two laps remaining in the moto. Hansen couldn't mount a challenge for the number one slot and would have to settle for the runner-up position. The second moto, much like the rest of the day, was a cakewalk for Bachman. In addition ta his 250cc A crown, both the Open Outlaw and 125cc A class competitors found themselves chasing the Honda rider ta the finish line. Trent Hansen was the bridesmaid each time, netting him three second overall finishes on the day. It was yesterday once more in Palmyra, as Vintage dass racing made its eastern Nebraska debut on this muddy day. Ken Lyle piloted his Suzuki to a double moto victory over Gary Gibbs. Results BEG: 1. Roger Hendon took the win in the +35 dass and Tony sCored both the 250cc A and +25 class wins. Roger Hendon was not without competition for the day, as local rider Kenneth White pushed his Honda CRSOO into the lead of the first moto. White held off challenges by Hendon and built up a small cushion. White took the first moto _ win ahead of Hendon and the rest of the field Roger Walker and Gary Brooks. Hendon came back for the second moto with fire in his eyes and was determined not ta take back seat again. As the gate dropped, it was, once again, the Honda CR500 of White's out front, but Hendon was tucked in dose behind. White led the first two laps of the 20 minute mota, but Hendon closed in on third and put his Honda XR600 Honda ahead of White as they entered the supercross whoop section. White was determined not to be outdone, as he sailed past Hendon over a jump, but went wide in the next comer allowing Hendon to pull alongside. As the two riders raced through the back section of the leack neither could gain the advantage. White saw his chance coming and, on!" again, sailed past Hendon over the uphill double. Hendon used the final few laps of the moto to pull ahead of the tiring White to secure the second mota and overall win. Roger's brother, Tony Hendon, the 1988 National Hare Scrambles Champion, took decisive moto wins in the +25 and 250cc A classes. The 250cc C class added more action for the day as last round's winner Jonn Thompson took conleOl of the start but crashed when he landed hard off of the tunnel jump. Terl")( Bass then took control of the race and led until the final lap when he fell giving the lead to Suzuki rider, Mitch Knight. Second moto action saw John Thompson, once again, take the lead and keep it on two wheels for the win. Behind him was a battle among Knight, Bass and John Bingham. Bingham took revenge of his first mota fourthplace finish by overtaking Bass and Knight ta finish second. Thompson's 3-1 mota scores beat Knight's 1-3 mota finishes giving Thompson the win, Knight second with Bingham and Bass finishing third and fourth, respectively. til ResullB SO: 1.
