Literally.
A
violent rainstorm
the night before
had transformed
the normally fast trail into a
muddy, puddly, snake-infested, alligator-inhabited
mess.
Engines sucked in more
water than
camels in the Sahara.
Helmet visors and brake pads became m~dpies.
Fallen tree branches and submerged stumps sent many competitors
head over wheels. The President
could've declared it'
a disaster area. But
Steve Hatch
and his Suzuki
enjoyed a smooth ride
and emerged from the mucky fray
unscathed - and the victor.
Defending AMA National Enduro Champion Randy
Hawkins, also riding an RMX, came in fourth.
In fact,
five of the top 10 finishers were on Suzukis.
Of course,
Suzuki dominates more than just races. In
their April Shootout comparison test, Dirt Rider
magazine called the Suzuki RMX "the best
250cc enduro machine on the market."
So
we congratulate Steve, Randy and all of Team
Suzuki for triumphing in such less-than-ideal conditions.
They're proof positive that anybody who's thinking of
.going up against a Suzuki should definitely take a rain
$
check.
