TOTAL 1992 TEAM TOReO PAYOUTS: On the sixth lap DuHamel would take the lead back for good, though it hardly appeared that way at first. But, unofficially, DuHamel was lapping right near his qualifying mark, despite . the cool afternoon, and by the 10th lap he was beginning to creep away. "1 went high and 1 went low just to confuse them," DuHamel said as he made his move. "1 was trying to tuck everything in, hair and everything. 1 was taking one hand off the handlebars and putting it on the track - like the dirt trackers do." Once he was able to break the draft completely he put a couple of seconds on the pack and sped unimpeded to his second 600cc Supersport win at Daytona. He won here in 1991 aboard a Carnel Honda, a victory which preceded his win in that year's Daytona 200. "There should be a rule that if you start a day like that, then they let you win the second one (the 200)," he said. As DuHamel began to stretch his lead, the fight for second grew more intense, four riders swapping positions several times a lap all hoping to be close enough to make a move at the end. . Crevier moved in behind his fellow Canadian near the halfway mark, but he knew his grasp was tenuous. Kipp was coming and there was nothing he could do about it. "On the last lap I saw that he was using me as a gauge. He reeled me in. He was where he wanted to be. I'll say anything to make it sound like it wasn't my fault," Crevier joked. "We trust each other and that's what it takes," Kipp said. "Everything worked good." Turkington was moved back to fourth - from third - on the 12th lap when Kipp jumped two spots. Smith would try him at the end, but carne up just short. The battle for sixth place was also decided on the last lap, Gerald Rothman Jr. making the most of his pinch-hitter's role on the Yoshimura Suzuki to beat Camel Honda's Renfrow across the line. Rothman Jr., who has a pair of his own Supersportspec Suzukis, 750cc and 600cc, will be filling in for Donald Jacks, who suffered a broken arm in his superbike crash at the Phoenix opener. eN Results 600« SS FINAL: J.
